Jeff Witzke - CEO/Founder
Witzke Capital was created in 2018 after realizing a career in corporate finance left me unfulfilled professionally. My employer in 2017 relocated my wife Rebecca and I to Dallas, TX, and I was given a new team to develop and manage. However, after much sincere effort by my employer and I to make my new assignment a success, my employment was subsequently terminated. Trusting in the Lord for a brighter future, the time was right to capitalize on all of the valuable experience gained running fortune 500 companies and start a company in an industry that I had a great passion for, capital markets.
My passion for capital markets began in the mid 1990's learning to buy and sell equities and derivatives. At the time, I was a union Teamster truck driver for Roadway Express in Arizona. I would spend some of my weekend time off in the library researching to discover companies in which I wanted to invest. I very much enjoyed the research and discovery process. It proved to be a lucrative endeavor overall, but it wasn't without painful lessons learned. I had made enough profits through trading equities/derivatives to buy commercial real estate and return to Purdue University to finish my undergrad degree. I was accepted into an electrical engineering program earlier and completed two years of my undergraduate degree, but my heart was in finance and business instead. So, when I returned as a full-time student to complete my undergraduate degree, I changed my major to finance and accounting. Opportunities in the capital markets upon graduation were slim and I was offered a financial analyst position in a large corporation that began a career in finance. A 15 year career in corporate finance has culminated in the development of Witzke Capital Management.
Witzke Capital Management is a privately owned company that provides liquidity to global capital markets using disciplined risk management strategies. We employ the latest technology combined with proven strategies to gain an edge in our industry. However, without a doubt, our greatest asset is our team members. We equip our team members using the Servant Leadership model to grow and retain a highly motivated team. Servant Leadership is a biblically based model where a Servant Leader shares power, develops intimate relationships, puts the needs of the employees first and helps people develop and perform as highly as possible. A Servant Leadership resource I recommend reading is Love Works: Seven Timeless Principles for Effective Leaders by Joel Manby. https://www.christianbook.com/works-seven-timeless-principles-effective-leaders/joel-manby/9780310359746/pd/359741?event=ESRCG
The reason we use the Servant Leadership model is because I am a committed Christian and the greatest example of an effective leader is Jesus Christ, the ultimate Servant Leader. I became a Christian on Sept 28, 1991 but my journey began as a boy growing up in Indiana. I was brought up Catholic. I attended CCD classes, learned about the faith, and was confirmed. However, for me, there was no life in it. It was religion, a dead religion. It wasn't until that faithful day on Sept 28,1991 while at work when the living Christ invaded my heart, mind, soul and changed me forever.
